Qvniidaay magnetic screen door hung across a wide French door opening

Can You Put a Magnetic Screen Door on French or Sliding Doors?

The short answer

French doors, yes — that's what the Qvniidaay double door opening model is built for. It runs $49.99, you enter your exact width and height at checkout, and it's cut to your frame.

Sliding glass doors are a different answer. A magnetic screen door can work on a slider, but only if you're willing to leave one glass panel open all season and use the mesh as the actual door. If you open and close the slider every day, this is the wrong product and no amount of clever hanging will fix that.

That's the whole article. Everything below is the detail that decides which of those two you are.

Why French doors are the easy case

A French door pair is one wide opening with two leaves. A magnetic screen hangs across the whole opening and splits into lanes, so you never touch a lever again — you push through, the magnets re-seal behind you.

The Qvniidaay double-door version splits into two walk-through lanes instead of one long center seam. On a 150 cm opening, one giant flap swinging in one direction is awkward; two lanes means you and the dog can go through at the same time and neither of you fights the seam.

The mesh is high-density polyester, edges double-stitched at 6 stitches per inch, and every seam has the magnets sewn inside. Colors are black, gray, and white. Color doesn't change the price, and it doesn't change the fit either.

One buyer, reviewing on May 26, 2026, put hers across her patio French doors and made the point that matters most for a room you use in summer: "It fits like it was custom-made for the space, and it doesn't obscure the light at all." That's the thing people worry about with a screen on glass doors — that the room goes dark. It doesn't. You lose a little clarity, not daylight.

What size do you need for a French door pair?

Measure the flat face of the frame where tape will land, then order in centimeters. The Qvniidaay size chart maps common frames like this:

  • 60" frame (152 cm) → 155 cm screen
  • 72" frame (183 cm) → custom double door, because the widest standard width is 180 cm (70.9"), which is narrower than the frame

So most French door pairs land in the 150–180 cm range, and a few land just past it. Anything past 180 cm is the customized build, and the customized build is priced the same $49.99 as the wide standard sizes.

Two things to know before you type in a number:

Measure twice, because custom means no returns for a mismeasure. Customized screens aren't covered by the 30-day return window. If yours arrives damaged, defective, or wrong, Qvniidaay remakes it free — contact us within 7 days of delivery. If you measured sloppily and it doesn't fit, that's not a return we can take. This is the single most common way people end up unhappy with a custom screen.

Don't plan on trimming it. The magnets and the edge reinforcement are sewn into the seams, so cutting one down removes the parts that make it close. Buy the size, don't make the size.

Do you need a second person to hang it?

On French doors, usually yes, and it's not a knock on the product. The screen is just wide.

The May 26, 2026 reviewer said exactly that: "I did need a second set of hands to hang it, just because of the wide width of my french doors, but that's a tiny ask for how easy the rest of the setup was."

The mechanical part takes about ten minutes: clean the frame, let it dry completely, press the adhesive hook tape around the frame, then press the mesh onto it starting at the top center. No drill, no screws. Get the tape line right and the rest is downhill.

Her other note is the trick that decides whether the thing actually works: "anchor the center point 1 cm higher than the top edges." Raise the top center slightly above the outer corners and the seam falls shut on its own every time. Skip it and you'll spend a week wondering why your magnets are weak when the magnets were never the problem. A strip of masking tape on the frame before you stick anything down is the cheapest way to get that line straight.

What kind of frame will the tape actually hold on?

Wood, metal, vinyl, aluminum. That's the list in the product spec sheet, and it's the honest list — it does not include glass, brick, or textured stucco.

French door frames are usually wood or vinyl, so you're fine. What isn't fine is a rough or painted surface that the tape can't key into. A buyer reviewing on May 26, 2026 hung three of the widest french-door-sized screens on a run-in horse shelter and found out the hard way: "the sticky velcro backing wouldn't hold on my shelter's textured, painted wood." They stapled them instead, and seven weeks later reported them still up and still intact.

Which is a useful precedent for anyone with an awkward frame: the screen itself tolerates being fastened differently. It's the adhesive that's picky, not the mesh.

Can you put a magnetic screen door on a sliding glass door?

Sometimes. The distinction is how you use the door, not what the door is made of.

It works when the slider is basically a doorway. If you slide one panel open in May and leave it open until September, the opening is now just a hole in your wall — and a magnetic screen over a hole in your wall is exactly the product's job. Tape goes on the surrounding frame, the mesh hangs over the opening, you walk through it, it seals behind you. One buyer reviewing on May 27, 2026 reports it flatly: "It fits sliding glass doors, patio doors, French doors and regular front doors perfectly." She's not wrong, for that use.

It doesn't work when the slider is a working door. If you open and close that glass panel daily — letting the dog out, hauling groceries, opening it for the breeze at 4 p.m. and closing it at 7 — the mesh is now in the way of a moving panel. Every time you slide the glass, you're holding mesh aside with one hand. And the tape is specced for wood, metal, vinyl, and aluminum, not for the glass surface itself, so the only place it can live is the frame around the opening.

If that's your house, buy a sliding screen door or a retractable screen built to ride on the slider's own track. A magnetic curtain is not that product, and pretending otherwise is how people waste $50.

The other catch: width. A 6-foot slider is about 72", which is past the 180 cm (70.9") maximum standard width — so it's a custom double-door order at $49.99, and custom means no change-of-mind returns. Measure that opening before you commit to a date.

What about a single French door leaf?

Then you don't need the $49.99 double. The center-opening model at $39.99 splits down the middle into one walk-through lane, which is exactly right for one door's worth of traffic.

If a center seam would land where nobody walks — a door you only use from one side, a frame with very little flat face to mount tape on — the reversible side-opening model at $39.99 seals down one full side instead. Same mesh, same install, different lane position. It's also the one to look at when a door handle or a jamb leaves you almost no room for tape.

When you shouldn't buy any of these

Straight talk, because two minutes of honesty beats a $50 mistake.

  • You want a real screen door that swings or slides. This is fabric on hook-and-loop tape. It doesn't latch, it doesn't lock, and it isn't a security barrier in any sense.
  • Your frame is brick, stucco, or glass. The tape has nothing to grab. You'd be stapling, screwing, or building a wood frame first — at which point you're not really buying a peel-and-stick product anymore.
  • You need to seal that doorway against cold. Mesh passes air by design. A magnetic screen is a bug screen, not insulation, and in a heated room it's a hole with a net over it.
  • You're going to trim it to fit. You can't. The magnets and reinforcement live in the seams.
  • You need it in three days. Custom builds take an extra 3–5 business days in production, then standard delivery to the US runs 11–15 business days. Express is 5–10 business days for $10 more. A French door opening in June with a dinner party on Saturday is not a custom order situation.
  • You expect it to look like a milled aluminum frame. It's mesh with a stitched hem. Buyers routinely say it looks better than they expected — one reviewer on May 27, 2026 called the gray mesh "tough, practical" and said the material "resists scratches and wrinkles" — but it's still fabric, and it will read as fabric.

What buyers run into on wide openings

Sizing is the recurring theme. One buyer on June 4, 2026 had a narrow, non-standard back door that opened outward — "so a regular screen door was never an option" — and solved it by mounting the mesh inside the frame and shifting it left or right to center it. That's normal on wide or odd openings: you're covering the opening, not the trim.

They also skipped the adhesive tape entirely and used upholstery tacks, reasoning that "that tape can be a pain to remove later." Fair trade: tacks come off clean but leave small holes. On a wood French door frame you own, that's a real option. On a rental, tape and a bottle of rubbing alcohol at move-out is the safer path.

And if you're ordering for something wider than a house door — the horse shelter example above used the largest french-door sizes for 4-foot openings — order the double-door style, not the center style. The double seams are what let traffic pass on either side instead of funneling everything through one lane.

FAQ

Will a magnetic screen door fit French doors? Yes, if you order the double-door opening version and give your exact width and height at checkout. It's $49.99, it splits into two walk-through lanes, and it's cut to your frame. Measure the frame face, not the trim.

Can I use one on a sliding glass door? Only if you leave one glass panel open all season and use the mesh as the door. If you open and close the slider regularly, the mesh is in the way of a moving panel every time — buy a sliding screen door instead.

What's the widest opening it covers? 180 cm (70.9") on the standard grid. Wider than that is the customized double-door build at $49.99. A 72" frame is past 180 cm, so it needs the custom version.

Do I measure the door or the frame? The frame face where the tape will sit, top to bottom and side to side, then convert to centimeters. If you're between two sizes, go up — a slightly wide screen can be shifted into place, a narrow one can't be fixed.

Can I cut it to fit? No. The magnets and the reinforced edges are sewn into the seams, so trimming removes the parts that make it close.

What if it arrives damaged or the wrong size? Custom orders aren't returnable for a change of mind, but if a custom screen arrives damaged, defective, or wrong, Qvniidaay remakes it free when you contact us within 7 days of delivery. Non-custom items follow the standard 30-day window. The FAQ page covers the rest of the policy questions.
